Parents and Scoutmasters,

The Sept 19-21 Trip is canoeing on the New River from North Wilkesboro to the Virginia border, pulling out at Mouth of Wilson. Canoe trips are labor intensive operations that require help and input from many people. Please plan to step up to volunteer in order to make this a successful trip. Here is what is needed:

Scouts Going: Need a head count. Need to know how many canoes are needed

Adults going: Need a head count in order to determine how many canoes are needed

Bus Driver: Need a volunteer

Canoe Pick Up and Return From Belk Scout Camp:

2” trailer hitch ball needed. We have 18 canoes/paddles/pfds on 3 trailers of 6 that need to be picked up on 9/18 or 9/19 from Belk Scout camp and returned on Sunday 9/21.
  • Canoe Trailer #1: Who can pick up?
  • Canoe trailer #2: Who can pick up?
  • Canoe Trailer #3: Who can pick up?

Troop 33 Trailer: Who can pull the Troop Trailer?

Grubmaster: Who can head up the grubmaster crew?

River Master: John B. heading up this role for the umpteenth time over the past 30 years. Thank you John.

More details to be aware of:

  • We will leave the hut no later than 5:30 on Friday 9/19.
  • We will camp on Friday night on the banks of the New River near North Wilkesboro. On Saturday night we will camp at the River access only campsite. On Sunday morning we will canoe to the Va border.
  • We will arrive back at the hut around 4:00
  • The patrols will need to plan menus, and equipment needs based on canoe transport. Waterproofing of personal equipment will be important.
More information to come. But for now:
  • Who is going (Scouts and Adults)
  • Who will step up to help with the items listed above?
Thank you in advance for your help and support. This is always a great trip. Don’t miss it.
