New Rank Requirements

Now that we are in 2017, everyone will be working toward their next rank using the new 2016 requirements.

Note 1: For those that joined BSA in 2016 and bought a new 2016 handbook, you can ignore below because the “new” BSA 2016 Rank Requirements were already in effect for you.

Note 2: For those working on “Eagle”, below applies, but has no practical impact. The new requirements for Eagle are just rewording of the old.

  • 2016BoyScoutRequirements 8.14.2015_Highlights  - The document lists all the old and new requirements side by side. I’ve highlighted those items that are not just rewording of the same requirement but are truly new/different.
  • 524-012 BS Requirements Insert You may choose to buy the new 2016 handbook, but it is not required. BSA has created this .pdf which you can print/arrange/fold/staple to become an insert for your existing handbook. Use it as an insert to your existing handbook so that you have the new rank requirements checklist for signatures. **You have to be sure to use “Duplex Printing” so that it prints front and back.
  • 2016BoyScoutrequirementsFAQs.pdf – Has some useful clarifications about the new requirements.
